Server Values

SERVER VALUES

Immersion
The server aims to provide a highly immersive 90s experience. Players are encouraged to embrace the culture, technology, and lifestyle of the era.

Community
A sense of community is essential. Players should work together to create enjoyable stories and experiences for everyone involved.

Creativity
Players are encouraged to be creative with their character backgrounds, storylines, and roleplay scenarios. Diverse and imaginative characters add depth to the server.

Realism

Strive for realism within the constraints of the game. Characters should have believable motivations and actions. While we pride ourselves on Serious RP, it's crucial to remember that extraordinary things can happen. Balancing realism with fun is key. While we're not encouraging unrealistic behavior, let's stay open to exciting possibilities for storylines and narratives.

Fun

Above all, ensure that players are having fun. While realism and immersion are important, the primary goal is an enjoyable gaming experience.

Storytelling
Encourage players to build compelling and interconnected storylines. Whether it's criminal activities, businesses, or relationships, storytelling is key.

Conflict Resolution
Address player conflicts with a focus on conflict resolution and character development rather than resorting to constant PvP.

Inclusivity
Welcome players of all backgrounds and experience levels. Offer support to newcomers and help them integrate into the server's roleplay. Any discrimination of any sort will not be tolerated and will be met with swift disciplinary action.

Consistency
Ensure a consistent roleplay environment and setting that reflects the 90s era accurately.

Feedback
Encourage players to provide feedback to improve the server. Listen to the community's suggestions and implement changes when necessary.

Rule 1 - Community Rules

RULES

Rule 1 - Community Rules

FreestyleRP is a community that strives towards realism, balance and fairness. It aims to build upon the stories of the Grand Theft Auto series, and thus is centered around lore-friendly/canonical events, brands and so on. In order to maintain a healthy community, behavior such as toxicity, bullying or racism has no place in this discord or adjacent community.
All players must adhere to
Rockstar’s Community Guidelines as well as our own

1.1 - Toxicity
All members shall refrain from excessive toxicity, bullying or harassing other players. This includes just generally being a troll in discord as well.

1.2 - NSFW Content
Members shall not post images, videos, etc featuring content that is deemed NSFW (Nudity, gore, etc).

1.3 - Off-Topic Posting
When posting messages, videos or images you must do so in the proper channels. Do not post irrelevant messages in improper channels.

1.4 - Spam / Promotion
You are not permitted to spam, advertise, share referral links, or share information that exploits bugs or vulnerabilities to the server.

1.5 - Server Nickname
Your Discord Server Nickname must match that of your character’s name, as it is imperative that other members can search and find you OOC if needed.

1.6 - Reporting

We would encourage everyone to use a background recording application so that, if needed, you can provide evidence of situations. You do not need to do this, but we would appreciate it. Without recording scenes, we may not be able to take action on rule breaks, or issue refunds. Applications like Medal TV work great (Medal TV)

  • False or fabricated reporting is not permitted and will result in the offender receiving a ban from the community.

  • If something reportable happens, tickets/reports should be made within 48 hours time.

1.7 - Stream Chats

To ensure a healthy and inclusive environment for all members, content creators are expected to actively moderate their communities. Failure to do so, which includes neglecting to prevent members from engaging in attacks or other harmful behavior, may lead to a punishment from the community. We prioritize creating a safe and respectful space, and your cooperation in maintaining these standards is greatly appreciated.

Rule 2 - Roleplay
Roleplay is of utmost importance on an RP server for obvious reasons. Roleplay is considered as taking up the role of a character you create and taking on the behaviors and traits of your character and behaving realistically in whatever situation you're thrown into.

2.1 - Breaking Character

While you are on the server you are required to roleplay your character at all times. You cannot break character for any reason or speak Out of Character while in the server.
This also includes logging out in the middle of an active roleplay situation.

2.2 - Realistic Behavior
The character you create must behave realistically for every situation you find yourself in. You shall refrain from roleplay that is unrealistic, trolling or out-of-character due to boredom.
If you are bored to the point where you begin to leak OOC into IC, it is recommended that you take a break.

2.3 - Impersonation
You cannot impersonate another character or group in the aim to bring harm to them, their group or reputation.

2.4 - Injury

You must realistically roleplay your injuries as you become injured in-character, this means pacing yourself in certain situations after events in which you are injured.
This includes not speaking once you're incapacitated/bled out from serious injuries such as a gunshot wound or fall from extreme heights.

2.5 - Low Quality Roleplay (LQRP)
LQRP: Low Quality Roleplay is a generalized term which expresses the failure to try your best to make Roleplay enjoyable for all players on the server. Low quality is generally looked at from a point of someone being completely lazy or lackluster with their RP. Every interaction should feel fresh.

We want everyone to try new things and make every interaction unique. We do not want to see GTA online or gun play over roleplay.. We want there to be quality interactions in every situation. This includes acting in a manner which is not necessary; either to make someone angry, or just simply to be a nuisance to other players.

Examples of LQRP:

  • Pocket Wiping SEE ( 7.2 POCKET WIPING )

  • Creating multiple irrelevant and annoying scenes in public spaces which ruin the realism of the server (FiveM "Create Scene" function)

  • Undermining your injuries when being treated by EMS to simply evade RP and get back out on the streets ASAP.

  • Committing crimes and/or being a public nuisance in front or inside of PD.

  • Continuously ocean dumping the same person becomes LQRP as it shows blatant disregard for any type of Roleplay build-up. You must only do an ocean dump if it is absolutely necessary that the player involved forgets all the information leading up to it.

  • Constantly antagonizing the same group of players to create conflict. See “Baiting”

  • Instantly cuffing someone without any valid reasoning and/or interaction.

  • Using "/me" in an unrealistic manner (Examples: "/me Crips did it to ya bozo", "/me L Bozo", etc.)

  • Hospital camping, which refers to intentionally waiting or lingering near a hospital to taunt or provoke players who have recently lost a fight, is not permitted.

  • Failing to respond to /me interactions of other players, such as:

    • /me takes off mask

    • /me steals shoes.
This does not include powergaming /mes such as :

      • /me cuffs you

      • /me takes gun off you

2.6 Cross-Character Conflict
A player's different characters should, at all possible, not be involved in the same storylines. A wait period of 2 months is mandated after one of your character's storyline ends before another one of your characters can be involved in it. This is to avoid conflict of interest and to ensure a fair roleplay experience for the community. Only approval of re-entry can be given by staff; but a minimum of 30-days must pass before any leniency.

EXAMPLE:

You have a character that’s in a gang, and your other character is a cop and was asked to be involved in an investigation on that gang. You are to respectfully decline involvement in the investigation.

You have a character that was in XYZ gang, your character perma’d, you cannot then make another character to rejoin said group. You must slow burn the re-entry, although this is highly discouraged.

This includes PD, EMS/MEDICAL/FIRE, and DOJ.

Rule 2 - Roleplay

Rule 3 - Character Rules

Characters must be created with realism in mind, that includes in-character age, name and player customization.

3.1 - Age
Your character age must be 18 years or older. Child/Minor RP is forbidden as GTA features adult themes.

3.2 - Name
You cannot give your character a joke name, and it cannot resemble that of a celebrity, movie character or story character. (ex: Niko Bellic)

3.3 - Creation
Your character's creation must be realistic, you cannot set your character's model to something unrealistic or wear job clothing that your character isn’t assigned to (ex: Police, EMS, etc).

3.4 - Association
Your character cannot be associated with or related to any of the lore characters of the GTA series. There are a few exceptions including NPCs you interact with and lore characters.
This does not mean they can’t be aware of their existence, it just means that they will not know them on a personal level. Be realistic if you choose to have your character know a story character.

3.5 - Character Continuity

Character continuity on FreestyleRP mandates that each character’s storyline is fresh upon entry to the server. We know everyone has their favorite characters, but if you are to play a character from a previous server you have no history or memories from that server. This ensures a unique and independent storytelling experience within the FreestyleRP universe. This does not mean your character needs to lack lore or friendships, but doesn't mean you talk about past cities and experiences there IC.

3.6 - Forced Lore

If you are going to be using your character or plotline to interject into a storyline through lore, make sure it is cleared beforehand. This can be very jarring to storylines if done improperly, but masterful when executed with coordination. Clear it with the individual/groups before making a character/plotline that would find themselves within the lore of established groups on the server.

3.7 “Cousins”
You may not have your own two characters related to each other without staff approval. Even then, those characters are not allowed to interact with the same group of people on a regular basis, they are inherently two separate entities. Having characters that are related, either sisters, brothers, or cousins, can lead to unintentional character bleeding or meta. Allowances for this will be very limited, and is highly discouraged. If you wish to have a sister, brother, cousin, or a familial relationship, look towards having another player fill that role.

Rule 3 - Character Rules
Rule 4 - Metagaming

Rule 4 - Metagaming
Metagaming is considered when you transfer information from Out-Of-Character (OOC) and In-Character (IC) whether you use it to gain an advantage or not.

4.1 - OOC information

You cannot use or transmit information you received OOC, In-character whether it is to gain an advantage or not. This includes public channels and media channels.

4.2 - Third-Party Communication
You cannot use third-party voice or text chat to communicate with other people while you're on the server.

4.3 - Stream Sniping
You cannot watch another player's stream while you are on the server yourself.

4.4 - Character Bleed

You may not use information you know on one character on another character; or blend those two stories together for personal gain. The latter can also constitute as power gaming.

Rule 5 - Power Gaming

Rule 5 - Power Gaming
Power gaming is considered when you perform acts with your character that are considered unrealistic or when you force actions on another player.

5.1 - Unrealistic Acts
Your character cannot perform acts that are considered unrealistic for the situation they are in.
This includes but is not limited to; using GTA stunt jumps, running and jumping to go faster, peeking around corners in 3rd person, talking on the phone while swimming, answering a phonecall while handcuffed, swimming while handcuffed, etc.

5.2 - Forcing Actions

You are not allowed to force any action or condition on another player without their approval.
This includes forcing adverse conditions onto another player such as permanent death or limb loss without getting permission beforehand, or forcing people to withdraw money from a bank/ATM. This also includes shooting someone while they’re already downed without proper reasoning, or claiming you “Shot them in the head”.

5.3 - Exploiting
You cannot exploit in-game bugs in order to gain an advantage in-character.
This includes knowingly exploiting an imbalance in the economy to get ahead of others.

Rule 6 - Random Deathmatching

Rule 6 - Random Deathmatching
Random Deathmatching (RDM) is defined as killing another player without a valid roleplay reason to do so.

6.1 - Random Deathmatch
You cannot attack or kill another player without a sufficient roleplay reason or prior initiation.

6.2 - Vehicle Deathmatch
Vehicle Deathmatching (VDM) is not permitted, you cannot use your vehicle as a weapon in order to kill another player.
This is however disregarded if the player in question is threatened by another player and their only route of escape is forward over the attacker.

Rule 7 - Crime

Rule 7 - Crime
To maintain balance in FreestyleRP, rules regarding crimes have been added. A crime is any act that is deemed to be against the law.

7.1 - Asset Transfer
You cannot force another player to give items that aren't present or to transfer assets: Bank funds, houses, cars, etc to you.

7.2 - Pocket/Vehicle Wiping
You can rob players of all the cash / and some valuables they have on them or in a player owned vehicle. However you are not permitted to pocket wipe players or player owned vehicles of everything in their inventory/trunk.

7.3 -  Grace Period
During the 30 minutes before and after server restarts, all forms of in-game criminal activities, including mechanic-based crimes and player-versus-player (PVP) crimes, are strictly prohibited.
This encompasses the act of stealing vehicles before/after the server restarts.

7.4 Crime Limits

During Petty Crime/Low Level Crime your group may not exceed 4 members

Petty Crime:

  • Mailbox Robberies

  • Payphone Robberies

  • Parking Meter Robberies

  • Drug Sales

  • Vehicle Robberies

  • Chopping Vehicles

  • Shoplifting

Low Level Crime:

  • Store Robberies

  • Container Robberies (1 Container per member)

  • House Robberies

  • Robbing Players

During Medium Level Crime your group may not exceed 5 members.

Medium Level:

  • Jewelery

  • Fleeca Bank

  • ATM Robberies (outside of a store)

During High Level Crime your group may not exceed 6 members.

High Level:

  • Bank Trucks

  • Pacific Standard Bank and Paleto Bank

These limits include any and all people that involved themselves in a crime. Getaway Drivers, Blocking Vehicles, and Fake Hostages.

7.5 - Violent Acts against PD/EMS

Committing crimes against Police should be carefully and well thought out; stealing cop cars just for the sake of joyriding or shooting and robbing Police Officers just for looting the items, without a well thought plan of initiation or reason can be seen as a break in 5.1.

Should you decide to rob or loot a law enforcement character as part of your Roleplay, you are permitted to carry this out on ONE person per scene.

There must be sufficient roleplay reason to do this.

Additionally, keep in mind consequences when robbing police. While they may be opportune targets, severe IC consequences may follow. Shooting, robbing or otherwise committing crimes against city employees are generally punished quite harshly.

Committing crimes against EMS / Medical personnel without inherent reason could be seen as a breach in Rule 11 as you are attacking personnel who inherently save your life and others.

7.6 - Chain Robberies

You and your group cannot commit Low Level+ Crime more than once in 30 minutes from the end of the robbery/crime. Group refers to those who committed the robbery with you, whether directly or assisted in it.

Petty Crimes have no limit persay; they are a do within reason; do enough crime in an area and you may face IC penalties.

7.7 Crime Expectations
While we aren’t expecting you to wait around for the cops if you finish all the mechanics in the robbery, we are expecting you to try to roleplay out the scenario. Have a hostage; engage in hostage negotiations, without a hostage, PD will breach you. But of course, the scenario is up to you.

  • All criminal jobs (Banks, Stores etc.) must include a plan. A car chase to the tunnels, or a car chase to a rooftop just for the  sake of having a shootout, there must be reasoning behind shooting cops. Just doing it because you want to shoot at cops is not creative and brings nothing in the way of RP and will be seen as LQRP.

  • You may not have more than 2 vehicles staged.

  • Jumping into the ocean from a vehicle as a form of getting away from cops without a well thought out plan will be considered Low Quality RP, especially if you are found to consistently be doing that same plan

  • You may not use a NPC as a hostage

7.8 Hostage Rules

You are prohibited from capturing an individual and holding them for a period beyond 45-minutes. However, the 45-minute timer is not applicable if an on-going interaction requires this to be extended. If an extension is warranted as a result of an active interaction, the timer can only be extended until the scene ends. Examples of interactions that warrant extensions are as follows:

  • Interactions involving heists where law enforcement officers are present.

  • Interactions involving negotiations with law enforcement officers.

  • Interactions where the hostage has agreed to remain.

You may not take the same person as hostage within a 4 hour period.

Fake hostages/Consensual Hostages are allowed for the commission of a crime, however that fake hostage will count toward your group's group limit, and be factored in as such. If a hostage is seen to be associating with a person who kidnapped them, or is proven to be an accomplice by other means, that person can be punished and given charges by police as such.

The hostage is not allowed to help in the commission of a crime meaning they cannot do the mechanics within a robbery or heist. Abuse of this allowance will be severely handled and may get this allowance stricken out.

7.9 Third Partying

If a scenario is currently happening between 2 parties, (Example: Cops vs Criminals, or Gang Members vs Gang Members) you cannot interfere. This is considered Third Partying. Examples on interfering could be filling in for downed members, assaulting officers 'out of solidarity', helping out a group without being asked to (unless in certain pre-approved War scenarios), and similar. Due to this, if you or any members of your group are downed in a scene, you cannot replace the downed people with fresh players, the scenario must conclude with the aforementioned members.

Fake Hostages
Rule 8 - Hostilities

Rule 8 - Hostilities

This rule was created with the aim of maintaining fairness and balance when it comes to Hostilities. Hostilities refers to any situation where player(s) are threatened and the events leading up to it. Committing violent criminal acts in highly public and visible areas, government buildings, and facilities is highly not recommended. Not only is it unrealistic, except in very certain circumstances, but will result in more penalties In-Character most likely.
Repeated violent occurrences in or around government buildings will be seen as a break in 5.1

8.1 - Group Size
If you intend on partaking in hostilities with another person/group, your group must not number any more than 6, including those searching for targets or hostages.

8.2 - Baiting
You must not provoke other players for the sole purpose of causing an altercation. Needless hostilities and aggressive provocation for the sole purpose of causing a fight is not tolerated.

Baiting also includes; cop-baiting. Do not circle the Police Departments or Officers patrolling doing burnouts, honking, or speeding around the block to gain attention, just for the sake of a Cop interaction.

8.3 - Combat Logging
If you commit a hostile action / crime you cannot log out of the server for 30 minutes after that action / crime has finished.

8.4 - Hostility Pacing
Hostilities should always be a last resort. Refrain from excessive hostilities and pace yourself. This does not refer to defending from attacks.
Attacking the same people multiple times a day without sufficient roleplay reasoning will result in staff intervention.

8.5 - Take Your Losses
Take your losses, remember items can be replaced. If you are constantly taking losses against another gang/player you should consider mediating with them in-character.

If staff notices gangs constantly taking losses against another gang with no mediation and within reason, staff will intervene and impose terms.

Rule 9 - Groups/Factions

Here at FreestyleRP we have specific rules and guidelines that all groups and factions whether officially recognized or not must follow. Freestyle RP does not take applications for official recognition as a faction; you must prove yourself over an amount of time to have good roleplay. Then staff will reach out to leadership.

9.1 - Group Size

All groups/factions whether officially recognized or not, have a limit of 20 members.

All members of a criminal group must include anyone who is allowed to actively participate in conflict IC, in their member count.

For MC’s this should be Prospects and above.
For Criminal Groups this would be the recruit rank or similar.

All officially recognized groups must have all members officially recognized be apart of their official group channel on the Freestyle Discord.

9.2 - Gang Turf

When defending from an attack by another group/person on your designated turf you may use all of your present members as long as your gang is official, however you cannot lead a conflict back to your turf to use this to your advantage.

9.3 - Character Limits

You may only have 2 characters that are involved in different factions or groups. If one of your characters is in a leadership position in one group, you are not allowed to join a second group on another character. This is to prevent unintentional character bleed and meta. You may not have 2 characters in the same group/faction.

9.4 - Gang Turf

Gangs can only claim 1 piece of Territory that is of reasonable size. Reasonable Size meaning a few blocks around a traphouse/clubhouse/group house. They may not hold territories in different parts of the city. This does not mean that they can't have property in different parts of the city but they aren't allowed to claim it as part of their "turf".

Examples:

You can't have a group who claims turf in the South Side and then Paleto. But you can have stash houses in both of those places and your main house is in one of those locations. You cannot switch it daily or without roleplay reason.

You are allowed to go to war for territory but your turf has to be touching the next extended groups territory. Has to be mentioned and brought up as part of war terms in a war ticket.

As an unofficial faction a group can claim and roleplay out and establish their turf.

Rule 9 - Groups/Factions
Rule 10 - Third Party Programs & Softwares

Rule 10 - Third Party Programs & Software
FreestyleRP does not permit the use of third-party modifications while on the server. Third-party mods give you an unfair advantage over other players.

10.1 - Third-Party Software
The use of third-party modifications or software in order to gain an advantage over other players is not permitted.
This includes reticles/crosshairs, and software/programs you could use in order to spawn in-game items.

10.2 - Graphics Software
Graphics software or Shaders must be only used for aesthetic purposes and not to gain an upper hand in-game.
Software that isn’t permitted includes packs that remove foliage, add tracers to guns or alter blood effects.

Rule 11 - New Life Rule

Rule 11 - New Life Rule
When you're downed/incapacitated and you are forced to respawn at a hospital your character forgets all events leading up to the situation in which they were downed in.

11.1 - Forgetting Events

If you do not receive medical attention from medical services such as EMS / PD and “take the light” / (Respawn with E), your character forgets the 30 minutes of events leading up to being down in the current situation

If the PD arrives at the scene and brings you to ‘Hector’ (Automated EMS), you can remember events leading up to you being incapacitated, however, memories following the “down” should be treated as fragmented and not coherent. Meaning you remember HOW you were down but not specifically WHO did it.

You may not respawn if you have been advised that Police or EMS are on the way to your scene.

You must try to contact medical help of some sort while incapacitated (/311 Local description of what happened*).

If you were incapacitated in the middle of a shootout or in a violent scene you must wait for the scene to end.

11.2 - Returning To A Scene

You cannot return to the area in which you were downed/incapacitated for at least 30 minutes. No matter the circumstances; "the bullet just hit my vest" or "I was just grazed". You cannot go back to give backup or to transport. You are effectively removed from the scene.

Rule 12 - Not Valuing Life

In order to maintain realism, immersion and to ensure entertaining roleplay for everyone involved, players must value their character’s life and behave as such in-character.

12.1 - Valuing Self

You must value your character's life in all situations. If you're threatened you must behave realistically.

12.2 - Valuing Others

If someone has a hostage, or has kidnapped someone you know you must value their life.

Do not behave in a manner where you know rules are in place that may protect you. Remember to behave realistically.

Rule 12 - Not Valuing Life
Rule 13 - Blacklisted Topics / Scenarios

Rule 13 - Blacklisted Topics / Scenarios

In order to maintain a comfortable and healthy atmosphere on FreestyleRP, certain topics and scenarios will be blacklisted from roleplay.

13.1 - Blacklisted Topics

Depictions or roleplay related but not limited to the following topics are not permitted in any form: suicide/self-harm, pregnancy, domestic abuse, sexual assault/harassment, racism & extremism, fecal activities, or explicit descriptions of such acts, is strictly prohibited.

Roleplay should never make other players feel uncomfortable or distressed due to its graphic nature, this includes using the /pee emote in any trolling format.

Small Exception is given to Animal Peds; but they still have to follow the above that it is not to be overly used and very rarely used.

13.2 - Blacklisted Behaviors
We have a zero-tolerance policy towards homophobia, transphobia and any form of sexism. Discriminatory behavior or language is not acceptable and will result in immediate action.

13.3 - Erotic Roleplay
Explicit Erotic Roleplay is not allowed; hints and innuendo are acceptable, but nothing explicit should be acted out.

13.4 - Serial Killing
Serial Killing is strictly prohibited on the server, and will only available by staff approval. No more than 2 active serial killers will be allowed and all serial killer RP will need to be admin-approved before proceeding.

13.4 - Blacklisted Names and Logos

We do not permit gangs to use monikers or logos that are associated with historic/active gangs in the real world. Freestyle staff will have final say on any logos or names being used by Gangs/MCs in server.

Freestyle does not permit the use of historic/active brands or company names. Everything used in server must be something within the GTA Universe or created for the server.

Freestyle does not permit the use of name or depiction of historic/active known figures, celebrities, etc..

Gang Conflict Rules

Gang Conflict Rules

In order to ensure proper build up in gang conflicts, rules surrounding gang conflicts have been made to create sanctioned rules that must be agreed upon by both parties OOC before wars can take place.

We consider wars to be 2-3 violent conflicts in one week.

These sanctioned rules can only be used by the two parties involved in the conflict, or if agreed upon their allies.

Terms of Engagement
These are specific actions each gang can do on eachother while actively at war with one another.
Examples: Drive-Bys, Kill-On-Sight, Sabotage, etc.

Agreed Reason
This is the action or actions that lead up to or triggered the gang war, these must be legitimate reasons.

Agreed End
This is the resolution or goal for either gang, upon reaching this goal the war is resolved with the winning party achieving what they sought after.

Appeals Process
We offer an appeals process for those who believe the decision was unjust or too severe. Appeals are carefully considered, and additional information may be taken into account. https://www.freestylerp.com/banappeals

At FreestyleRP, we are dedicated to a disciplinary process that promotes fairness, learning, and a sense of community. We understand that everyone can make mistakes, and our goal is to help players grow and become valued members of our roleplaying community
